Plants and Well-being 🪴

I am a big advocate for utilising indoor plants in my home styling projects.

Bringing some of the outdoors into our homes has many positive effects on our mental health and well-being.

Using indoor plants and greenery can help connect us back to nature, elevate our moods and can make us generally feel more positive - this is especially true if we tend to live in the city and built up environments.

So more is more when it comes to displaying plants in your home styling.

Here’s one I prepared earlier 👆🏼
Empty shelves make the perfect spot in your home to create a green display don’t you think?!

Now the real trick is keeping your plant babies alive and thriving.

Just remember most people tend to kill their plants with too much love by overwatering them.
All they need is natural light, a good soak when they dry out and some fertiliser and dusting every so often. Ok, sometimes talking to them can also help them thrive🙃

Home should be a place of sanctity, comfort and safety. A place where we can authentically express who we are.

Expressing a unique and deeper sense of ourselves in the spaces we inhabit makes it feel sacred.

It’s what makes the energy in our homes feel alive and vibrant, which can then have a positive effect on our overall sense of wellbeing.

Everything is connected; once people become consciously aware of this, then they can see how their home environments and what they choose to be surrounded by has a direct affect on how they feel.

In today’s world, it’s comforting to know that we can choose to create a home that genuinely supports our mental and physical well being.

Using a softer and muted colour palette in your bedroom helps to create a feeling of calmness and serenity.

Art helps to set the mood, choosing the right piece for your space and curating everything around this is how you can create a beautiful bedroom you will love spending time in.

For this softer look, I used a gorgeous original artwork of a landscape and water by @marika_borlase available from @formanpictureframing and complimentary ceramic pieces by @debbieweinmannceramics also sourced from @formanpictureframing.

Keep your bed linen lighter and in softer tones to compliment your artwork and use layers for interest.

Using contrast in a room helps to create interest for the eye and also to the touch.

This may include using a variety of colour, texture, pattern, shape and size.

In this room sharp angles have been softened with rounded edges; colours are monochrome with pops of darker elements contrasting against lighter ones; and a range of textures including marble, glass, resin and ceramic to natural timbers, leather, linen as well as wool.

All of these elements, although different sit well together to give the space interest and depth while still keeping it simple.
